Meet the Staff
Master Jim Mahan is a decorated combat veteran with two tours in Iraq and is an established military authority on the use of the knife as a weapon. He is the owner of Let’s Get Training and the American Combat Arts Federation, recognized as a producer of some of the top Military and Martial Arts Instructional Videos in the World. His training programs are used by military units as well as elite Martial Arts Instructors…
Jim is one of the top hand-to-hand combat instructors in the United States Army and he has instructed thousands of US and foreign military and police units in Hand to Hand Combat. Jim started his martial arts training at the age of 13 in Korean Taekwondo and Hapkido and is a now a 7th Degree Black Belt. After joining the Army in 1982, he was introduced to the Filipino Combat Arts by a fellow Soldier who would change his way of fighting forever.
Since 1983 he has dedicated his life to training in blade related arts and has trained extensively in Jeet Kune Do, Filipino Arnis, Indonesian Silat, and a plethora of related arts to attain Instructor’s certification in several disciplines. Mr. Mahan has continued to update his arsenal by training in Submission Grappling and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu with his current Professor, Hideki Frazier and has been recently awarded his Purple belt.
While deployed for his second tour in Iraq, Mr. Mahan was responsible for training Iraqi Special Forces Platoons as well as Iraqi Police Counter Terrorism Teams in Precision Building Clearing and Hand to Hand Combative skill sets. Let’s Get Training’s Combative Systems is one of the only companies in the world that can bring such a unique training environment to not only the real life experiences in the use of weapons, but as well as pure hand-to-hand combat. The Sil-Jeon Kwan Taekwondo curriculum taught at his academy is a realistic, vibrant and robust training syllabus that is being adopted by schools nationwide.
Jim is currently stationed at Ft Hood, texas with his wife Missy and son, Jacob.
Master Roger Lewis is a decorated combat veteran and has trained with various Martial Arts Masters through out the world. Due to his military experience he has sought out only the most realistic and combative approaches to training in the martial arts. During his last tour in Iraq, Master Lewis was directly responsible for the training of thousands of Iraqi Army Soldiers and Security Forces.
Master Lewis is a certified Master instructor, coach, and referee in Taekwondo. He holds Black Belts in Hapkido and Wagi Kali-Silat. He’s a Purple Belt coach in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and is also a level 2 certified Modern Army Combatives Instructor. He is also the co-founder of Sil-Jeon Kwan Taekwondo.
He is the Chief Instructor and owner of Tiger Land Martial Arts Academy. As Vice President of the American Combat Arts Federation, he is dedicated to ensuring that the organization and its membership receive the best support possible.
First Sergeant Lewis is a career soldier who has served in the U.S. Army for over 21 years. His last assignment was in Yongsan Garrison, South Korea as the 8th U.S. Army combatives program director. He is currently assigned to Ft Polk, Louisiana as a First Sergeant at the Joint Readiness Training Center.
